Hello and welcome to Middle School ELA! I am excited for this year and everything that the students will learn. In all grades of Middle School ELA, we will study grammar, literature, informational texts as well as writing. All the grade levels will do several projects during the year, including book reports and five paragraph essays. The 6th grade students will read Hatchet and Percy Jackson and The Lightening Thief, with another book to be selected later in the year. The 7th grade students will be reading Romeo and Juliet, Johnny Tremain and The Outsiders. Finally, the 8th grade students will be reading Animal Farm and Hamlet as well as other books.
A little about me…I am in my second year of teaching and my first year at Val Vista Academy. I have a Bachelor’s in English Literature from ASU as well as a Master’s in Library Science from U of A. Before teaching, I spent over seven years working at a public library. I am passionate about the written word and I love to read. My background and education have taught me the importance of ELA and education.
I am looking forward to a wonderful year and please, feel free to contact me with any questions at SGriffin@ballcharterschools.org.
